Key Lime Air
Colorado
A cargo plane from this airport lost a section of its cabin roof in a midair collision and landed anyway.
In May of 2021, a small Cirrus and a Key Lime Air cargo plane collided while both were on approach to Centennial Airport. The Cirrus came down away from the airport under a parachute, which its design deploys for the whole aircraft. Everyone on it survived. The Key Lime plane, a Swearingen Metroliner, had lost a section of its cabin roof and taken damage to the tail. The pilot flew it in and landed safely at Centennial. Nobody was hurt in either aircraft. Key Lime Air keeps its headquarters here and has flown these Metroliners on overnight package runs across Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska and Kansas since the late nineties. The company has also drawn attention lately for a different kind of flying. In December of 2025, the Denver City Council voted to deny Key Lime a lease for ground storage at Denver International, objecting to its charter flights carrying immigration detainees.
